When is the best time to travel to western Sichuan?

The western part of Sichuan has a high altitude. Generally speaking, spring doesn’t arrive until May. From low to high altitudes, it gradually enters the beautiful seasons of spring and summer.
Here are the places suitable to visit in each of these months one by one:

May: May is a rather beautiful season in the western part of Sichuan. When the Ese flowers in Jiagenba are in bloom, with their very romantic small white blossoms, it’s suitable to visit the areas around Jiagenba after mid-May. The grass in the lower parts of the grasslands begins to turn tender green, making it a good place to travel around.

June: By this time, the flowering period of the grasslands hasn’t arrived yet, but the valley areas at lower altitudes are already full of greenery, and there are also wildflowers. Places like the Yala Snow Mountain Scenic Area, Wuxuhai Lake, and Moon Lake are all worth visiting.

July: From the middle to the end of this month is the best flowering period for the grasslands in the western part of Sichuan. Places like the grasslands in Aba County, Maoya Grassland in Litang and the Genie area are all very worthy of a visit.

August: At this time, the grasslands along the Route 317 still have the last flowering period, and the soon-to-be-ripe highland barley fields also present a beautiful scenery. The line from Luhuo, Ganzi County to Dege is a good choice.

The season has a great impact on the scenery in the western part of Sichuan, so it’s very important to choose a good season to go there.
