Algou, known as the secret realm in the clouds, is surrounded by high mountains and shrouded in mist. The primitive forest and exotic flowers and grasses interweave into a moving picture, making people feel like they are in a fairyland. This place not only boasts beautiful scenery, but also preserves the primitive style and rich folk culture of the Qiang ethnic group’s ancient villages, making it a paradise for hiking explorers and photography enthusiasts
Hiking itinerary: About 10 kilometers back and forth, starting at an altitude of about 3000 meters, climbing at around 1000 meters, and reaching a maximum altitude of about 4000 meters, but it is basically not too high. We took the route from Algou Village to Longchi, with gravel steps throughout the journey. It is relatively easy to walk up the mountain, but during the rainy season, the road surface is wet and slippery, so pay attention to anti-skid measures. Going back and forth is a route, just climb up the stairs and you won’t get lost.
Hiking time: Approximately 3.5 hours for ascending to the summit, 2 hours for descending, and a total of approximately 5 hours for round-trip
Carrying equipment: Shoes: Comfortable sports shoes or professional hiking shoes, ensuring a snug fit and slip resistance.
Clothing: Stormtrooper jacket+pants. The temperature on the mountain is relatively low and the ultraviolet rays are strong. You can wear sunscreen clothes, hats, gloves, etc. to protect yourself from the sun.
Food and Water: There is water supply along the way, but it is relatively expensive. It is recommended to bring your own sports electrolyte water and insulated bottled hot water. High energy and easily digestible foods such as chocolate, nuts, beef jerky, etc;
Other equipment: rain gear (unpredictable weather in western Sichuan, recommended to carry), sunglasses, sunscreen, hiking poles, knee pads, etc.
Tips:
The ultraviolet rays in western Sichuan are strong, so pay attention to sun protection (sunscreen clothes, sunscreen, sunglasses, hats)
Climbing poles and knee pads are essential. Having a knee pad throughout the steps can reduce damage to the knee and alleviate pain
There were no trash cans or toilets throughout the entire process, remember to resolve them in advance
Bring rain gear and keep warm. There is no signal on the mountain. If necessary, make sure to contact the outside world in advance
